On the afternoon of March 15th, the media briefing for the 15th China (Wenzhou) International Garden Expo was held in Beijing. It was announced at the meeting that the 15th China (Wenzhou) International Garden Expo will take place in Wenzhou from April to July 2026, marking the first time this international expo will be held in Zhejiang Province.

This edition of the Garden Expo is themed "Poetic Mountains and Seas, Sharing Green Life," and revolves around five key directions: "People's Garden Expo, International Garden Expo, Pioneer Garden Expo, Cultural Garden Expo, and Citywide Garden Expo." The event aims to innovate its organizational concepts and highlight unique features. In October of last year, the Wenzhou Garden Expo Park project officially commenced, and currently, both the construction of the park and the preparations for the expo have entered a comprehensive implementation phase.

So far, 13 sub-venues have been proposed across Wenzhou. Among them, Lucheng District will create a park city sub-venue centered around the Doucheng Park Ring; Longwan District will integrate public art with industry through the Eye Valley Town. Other sub-venues include the "Sea Garden" in Dongtou, the landscape garden sub-venues in Yueqing City and Yongjia County, the rural garden sub-venue in Rui’an City, and the green living circle sub-venue in Ouhai District. In terms of route design, multiple cultural and tourism routes will connect the main venue, sub-venues, and exhibition points, allowing visitors to experience diverse landscapes ranging from classical gardens to modern creativity, and from rural fields to marine culture, offering an immersive touring experience.

The 33 city exhibition gardens, covering a total area of approximately 89,000 square meters, will showcase a full range of classical Chinese and major global garden styles, providing visitors with an immersive experience of "exploring the world's gardens in Wenzhou."

Among them, the Zhejiang Mountains and Rivers Exhibition Garden will be jointly developed by Wenzhou and 10 other cities in Zhejiang Province, showcasing the beauty of Zhejiang, including the elegance of West Lake, the charm of its harbors, and the Orchid Pavilion, and the folk customs of Wuzhou, creating a grandeur of Zhejiang-style garden landscapes.

Currently, all city exhibition gardens are in the optimizing phase. Cities such as Beijing, Suzhou, and Guangzhou will display the gardening techniques of northern Chinese gardens, Jiangnan gardens, and Lingnan gardens, respectively. Cities like Shanghai, Xi'an, and Xiamen will showcase modern Shanghai-style, Han-Tang grandeur, and Minnan cultural characteristics, sharing resources, technologies, and experiences. Additionally, special exhibition gardens for Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, as well as a mountain-sea collaboration garden, will highlight the cultural features of these regions and the collaborative achievements between Wenzhou and its partner cities.

Design teams from nine countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Canada, Italy, the Netherlands, Japan, Thailand, and Uzbekistan, have already participated in the design of the exhibition gardens. A special "Maritime Silk Road Garden" will be set up to display the unique customs and cultures of countries along the "Belt and Road" route. The International Federation of Landscape Architects (IFLA) will also participate, creating a distinctive "IFLA Garden" for the first time.

When the expo opens, visitors to the Wenzhou Garden Expo Park will be able to admire classic garden styles from around the world, including British natural landscape gardens, French classical gardens, Italian terrace gardens, Japanese gardens, and Islamic gardens. As they stroll through the park, they will experience the diverse garden cultures and architectural styles of different regions.
