The Dragon Boat Racing of 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022 will soon be held in Wenzhou. Riding on the wind of the Asian Games, Wenzhou’s dragon boat culture could be known to more people. In this video, let's follow foreign anchor Iurii to explore the traditional dragon boat culture. 

Wenzhou dragon boat racing originated in the early years of the Northern Song Dynasty and has a long history. In June 2012, it was listed as one of the fourth batch of representative projects of intangible cultural heritage in Zhejiang Province.  

Dragon boat racing has a strong folklore characteristic. The outcome of the dragon boat race is always related to the local honour. So the spectators on the both sides of river bank will shout and cheer for their own local dragon boats. The dragon boat on the river surface and spectators on the shore echo each other. The intense race shows a strong sense of sports spirit. 

The Asian Games Dragon Boat Race will be held from Oct. 4 to Oct. 6 in Wenzhou Dragon Boat Sports Centre. May the Asian Games athletes achieve good results in the land where the dragon boat culture flourishes!
