A thousand years ago, Wenzhou was a prosperous seaport city. Thousands of years later, the ruin of Shuomen Port has been discovered here. The scene of countless sea ships gathering at harbour during the Song and Yuan dynasties was recreated in front of people's eyes.

What kind of sparks can we see as the modern Wenzhou city overlaps with its historic image, a millennium ancient port? What was Wenzhou people’s life like in Song Dynasty? In this video, two anchors Wang Mengni, who is from Lucheng Convergence Media Center,and Alisher, who is a Wenzhou Overseas Communication Officer and an international student from Wenzhou University, lead us to stroll around this ancient port, appreciate cultural relics. They traverse through thousands of years of time to present us the charming Song Dynasty!

The Song Dynasty has been called the "Oriental Renaissance" by overseas sinologists. The excavated artifacts such as glazed hairpins, Chui Wan (a kind of sport tool), waist drums and miniature bamboo carvings in Shomen Ancient Port have showed us the heyday of Wenzhou people's cultural and recreational life in Song Dynasty. While appreciating the artifacts, Alisher finds that the Chui Wan sport played by Song people is very similar to our modern golf. And he also marvels at the ancient Song people's capability of creating musical instruments out of porcelain. Alisher exclaims, "Song people were really awesome!”

After strolling through the ancient port and enjoying the cultural relics, Wang Mengni and Alisher go to Jiushan Shuhui to enjoy “Da Song Xi Cang” Opera Festival. The wonderful ancient bazaar, exciting opera performances, and interesting games, make them linger and forget to return!
