Chen Residence in Feipeng Alley

Chen residence, part of The historical and cultural block of Chengxi Street in Lucheng District, which was owned by Chen Shouyong and is a memorial hall now to commemorate Ma Mengrong and Ma Gongyu, is located in No. 98 Feipeng Alley.
Chen residence, which was owned by Chen Shouyong and is a memorial hall now to commemorate Ma Mengrong and Ma Gongyu, is located in No. 98 Feipeng Alley. The whole residence, sitting north and heading south, is a courtyard enclosed by four-side walls with a covered area of 900 square meters. There is a main building in the middle of courtyard, an annex building in the north and an one-storey building in the west. The door is decorated in Art Deco style with blue stone door lintel. There is six-horn half pavilion inside the door, which is comprised of three-side wooden beams and a three-horn pyramidal roof.There is also a water well in the southwest corner besides the six-horn half pavilion. The main building, sitting north and heading south, is constituted of three two-storey buildings with colonnades in east and south sides and covers an area of 450 square meters. Eight screen doors are set up in the middle of outer room with flower-type lattice and three layer from inside-out: louvered window, screen window and glass window. The material used for wall is wooden dado and quartz for floor.   
 
There is wooden stair in the rear of outer room, which is used for heading directly to the second floor. The overall layout of Chen residence is well preserved with its exquisite architectural material and fine-detailed craftsmanship. It is one of the most typically complete-preserved modern buildings of our city.
