Have you imagined to untwist the bottle cap with Taekwondo before? Recently, the “Bottle Cap Challenge” has gone viral on the network. The UFC star Conor McGregor, action star Jason Statham have joined them. Many Asian celebrities have also caught up with this craze. After the actress Hannah Quinlivan completed the challenge, she named her husband Jay Chou and others to participate. Before her, action star Donnie Yen Tze-dan also took part in the challenge.
What is #BottleCapChallenge?
The cap is placed on top of the bottle and is loosely twisted shut. The goal is to untwist the cap with a spin kick, without moving the bottle itself. The video must be shot in slow-motion for effect, of course.
The challenge started in the world of mixed martial arts (MMA), and those pros made it look easy.
Max Holloway, current UFC Featherweight champion, kicked things off, literally, after being challenged by Errolson Hugh who was, in turn, initially challenged by Farabi Davletchin. On Friday, Holloway shared a video where he performs a spinning back kick and by doing so, opens a capped bottle.
"Passing this on to our guy John Mayer," Holloway wrote in a tweet.
And guess what? The singer-songwriter showed his own MMA-like skills in a video he shared on Saturday, delivering a kick that not only spun the cap, but took it clean off.
This challenge is a lot more technically complex than the ALS ice bucket challenge that was all the rage in 2014. Most everyone can shiver through a bucket of ice water, but not everyone can successfully aim a kick at a tiny bottle cap with the right kind of angle and force.
That doesn't stop people from trying -- and some from succeeding -- whether famous or not.Some on social media are also arguing about how exactly it should be executed -- that's how you know it's now a thing.
Hollywood action star Jason Statham and mixed martial arts superstar Conor McGregor both got in on the act.
Yen took it a step further: he nailed it blindfolded and kicked a glass bottle instead of the plastic ones used by some of his contemporaries.He jump kicks at the bottle, lifting the lid off with a flick of his shoe, finishing the move with his Ip Man kung fu stance.
Actress Hannah Quinlivan also participated in the "Bottle Cap Challenge". She wore a sunglasses and easily kicked the cap out with a spinning back kick.
