On August 8, a salon themed in "Learning Practical English for the Asian Games" was held in the Gymnasium of Wenzhou Sports Center. This activity, which was jointly organized by Wenzhou People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and Wenzhou Overseas Media Center, aims to improve English level of relevant staff, who will provide the rear services during the Asian Games, through offering professional training.
It is reported that the teacher of this training is Hamad, the international volunteer (anchor of Hai’ou Community) of Wenzhou Overseas Media Center. Hamad, who is from Pakistan and now is a doctor at Wenzhou Panhealth Medical Center, prepared the courseware together with translators of Wenzhou Overseas Media Center.Their careful preparation made this training achieve good results.
During the 90-minute training, starting from basic English vocabulary, Hamad gave a wonderful English lesson to all the participants. From venue introduction, lost & found, to emergency handling and event services, he frequently communicated and interacted with the staff in English to improve their spoken English in daily conversation.
Hamad said that he was deeply moved by participants’ enthusiasm for learning. As a foreigner working and living in Wenzhou, he has always felt the friendliness of Wenzhou people. It’s really an honor for him to participate in this English salon and serve as a training teacher. And he’s looking forward to the football matches of Asian Games held in Wenzhou.
The person in charge of Wenzhou Sports Center’s operation team introduced that Wenzhou Sports Center will hold the football matches during Hangzhou Asian Games. It’s necessary to organize staff to participate in this training, boosting their enthusiasm of learning. A total of about 20 people participated in the training that day. They learned a lot from foreign volunteer, greatly enhancing their enthusiasm for learning English.
