Editor's Note: Lucheng is the center of Wenzhou, and also a key overseas Chinese township. It has 88,700 overseas Chinese distributed in 133 countries and regions, and 52,000 relatives of overseas Chinese.

Last year, Lucheng District Overseas Chinese Association launched a series of bilingual programs titled "Developments of Lucheng in Overseas Chinese's Eyes", displaying the great achievements Lucheng has gained in economy, life, and cultural construction through the perspectives of overseas Chinese.

This year, a new series of bilingual programs titled "Lucheng’s Common Prosperity in Overseas Chinese's Eyes" has been launched, telling the story of the new generation of overseas Chinese. We hope to further stimulate the wisdom of the overseas Chinese community, and continuously pump more youthful power into the construction of Wenzhou!

Taught by his father, traditional culture has taken root in the heart of Miao Yichuan since his childhood. After living and working in Spain for 15 years, Miao Yichuan has truly felt the difference between Eastern and Western cultures. So he decided to give up his work and life at abroad and returned to China, presenting Eastern culture to the world people in a way that is closer to our daily life.

"Colored-stone mosaic, like other intangible cultural heritages, does not fit well into people’s daily life. Our life are changing so fast that the traditional culture cannot keep pace with. The best way to pass on the intangible heritage is to blend it into the daily life of people." Miao Yichuan said.

In this regard, he has made many valuable suggestions and given a lot of positive attempts. For example, he developed new business models to form a virtuous industrial cycle; expanded the popularization of this art, launched handicraft courses in schools; actively participated in exhibitions as various cultural fairs. Miao Yichuan has combined traditional colored-stone mosaic art with modernity to create more practical works such as jewellery boxes, tea coasters and stationery articles that are more in line with current market demands.

"I believe that by presenting the diverse forms of intangible cultural heritage and awakening the public’s thinking about traditional culture, it is no longer a problem to achieve cultural coexistence." Miao Yichuan said.
