An Uzbekistan girl unveils the mystery of fine-grained paper-cutting for you

Have you heard of Yueqing fine-grained paper-cutting? Today, let’s follow Kim, a girl from Uzbekistan, to explore the charm of this world-class intangible cultural heritage.

It is reported that Yueqing fine-grained paper-cutting was developed on the basis of the “Dragon Boat Flower", a folk paper-cutting work in Yueqing. Fine-grained paper-cutting, which is a unique branch of Yueqing paper-cutting art, is also called “paper-carving”because its paper pattern is made through using a burin to carve the paper. With the distinctive artisan spirit of numerous inheritors, it continues to develop in the inheritance from generation to generation. Meanwhile, as the representative of Chinese southern paper-cutting, fine-grained paper-cutting, which is characterized with exquisite craft, smooth lines and abundant patterns, has a history of nearly 800 years.

In the video, Chen Yuhua, the inheritor of intangible cultural heritage, displays different fine-grained paper-cutting works to Kim. Whether animals, plants or the patterns reflective of Wenzhou folk customs, they are all lifelike. During the video-shooting, Kim, a foreign anchor of Wenzhou Overseas Media Center, had a zero-distance contact with fine-grained paper-cutting. She appreciated many excellent works, listened to Mr. Chen's specific introduction, and experienced this art form with her own hands. “The fine-grained paper-cutting really shocks me. Completing this work requires not only a pair of skillful hands, but also unparalleled patience.”Kim said.
