For Wenzhou people, there is one more reason why they like to eat fish is that because the word “fish”(in Chinese Pinyin: Yu)has a homophony with Chinese character “余”(also in Chinese Pinyin: Yu). And the Chinese idiom “年年有余” means the life get better year by year. So, fish is an auspicious sigh in Chinese culture. 

Alex said that he was afraid of fish bones, so he didn't eat fish very much in Wenzhou. However, he slowly fell in love with this delicious Wenzhou food - fish cake, which is free of fish bones and tastes tender and soft.
