Speaking of summer in Wenzhou, what comes to your mind? Is it a traditional cold drink on the street, a lively night market, a splendid light show along the banks of Oujiang River, or a beautiful island? In the past few days, a group of international friends from different countries such as United States, Italy, and Tajikistan have participated in the cultural exchange activities organized by the Wenzhou Overseas Media Center. This group of international friends have a common identity: anchor of Wenzhou Overseas Media Center (anchor of "Daka China·Hai’ou Community"). 

Wenzhou’s cold drinks in the eyes of Alisher

If you want to ask what is the favorite thing on the summer streets, the answer must be cold drink. There are many kinds of cold drinks on Wenzhou’s streets, which are conducive to cooling down and relieving heat. Alisher from Tajikistan is an international student at Wenzhou Medical University. What impress him so much in summer are the cold drinks and public welfare tea sites on the streets of Wenzhou. Last week, he came to Lucheng and enjoyed Wenzhou's cold drinks as almond jelly, white jelly, and Jiushan ice cream. Furthermore, Alishe also went to Sanleting, a public welfare tea site, to taste the free summer tea. This public welfare project, which deeply touched him, made him feel the great love of Wenzhou people. He hoped that he would have the opportunity to come here as a volunteer in the future.

In addition to delicious cold drinks, we have more beautiful things in summer, the picturesque scenery and charming Chinese costumes. Kristina, who is a foreign anchor of Hai’ou Community, once served as anchor of "Yongjia Kun Opera", a video produced by Wenzhou Overseas Media Center. The beautiful costume and makeup she wore in that video captured countless netizens. Recently, she put on Hanfu,  leaving behind her beautiful shadow at Zhongshan Park and Yangfushan Park in the city. Dressed in exquisite Hanfu, she became the center of people’s eyes. Kristina will leave China next month. So wearing Hanfu to take photos and videos, experiencing the beauty of ancient Chinese costumes, will be one of her most beautiful memories in Wenzhou.

Kimberly's charity experience

If you often go to some public welfare sites on the street, you will know Kimberly very well. She is particularly enthusiastic about participating in public welfare activities. Kimberly, who is from United States, is a foreign professor at the School of Foreign Studies of Wenzhou University. Some time ago, Kimberly has participated in voluntary activities such as foreign language error-correction over signage and civilized traffic persuasion. A few days ago, from the newspaper, she heard that there is a "Neighborhood Canteen" in Jishan Community, Lucheng District. She contacted the Foreign Volunteer Team of Wenzhou Overseas Media Center, hoping to serve as a volunteer at "Neighborhood Canteen" for one day. On that day, at the service window, Kimberly enthusiastically delivered meals to the elderly. So busy she was. The elderly were so happy when Kimberly asked them in Chinese what dishes they liked to eat. The elderly raised their thumbs, saying " Zan Jow He (In English, it means “That’s so nice".

Italian girl's coffee stall at night market

At the bustling summer night, Wenzhou is filled with night markets. The various night markets are the parts of vibrant urban street life in Wenzhou. With the participation of foreign volunteer Viviana, our night market is getting a little bit international. Viviana is a trainer at the Italian Coffee Institute. Last Saturday, she set up a night stall at the the Guangying Wharf to experience Wenzhou's night market economy. At the stall, the strong aroma of coffee, the proficient making skill, and the authentic taste of Italian coffee attracted a lot of passers-by to halt.

It is reported that these wonderful activities will also be released in the form of video on the WeChat account "Overseas Release"very soon. So please stay tuned. In the next week, the Wenzhou Overseas Media Center will take international volunteers (anchors of Hai’ou Community) to check out the characteristic cultural landscapes in Dongtou and Cangnan. The head of Wenzhou Overseas Media Center (activity organizer) said that international friends could experience the different seasons of Wenzhou through these activities.
