The shipwreck in Song Dynasty

Tons of ancient porcelain fragments have been unearthed at this ancient ruin, more than 90% of which are Longquan kiln products coming from various kilns in the upstream and downstream of the Oujiang River. Most of these specimens have no traces of use, so they should be consumables destroyed in the process of transportation and transshipment. Some Wenzhou lacquer wares, brick carvings, building components, shells and plant seeds have been unearthed in the site as well.

Remains of ancient porcelains

Experts said that the large-scale archaeological site we discovered this time is rare at home and abroad with complete chronological system and abundant relics. They have successfully reproduced the prosperity of Wenzhou Port in the Song and Yuan Dynasties. It’s a strong demonstration of Wenzhou as a "Millennium Commercial Port" and an indispensable part of Maritime Silk Route. In terms of the value and preservation status of the ancient ruin, it is also one of the most perfect sites of Maritime Silk Route, which can be regarded as a major achievement of marine and urban archaeology in China in recent years.
